Our fifth grade transitions math class has been hard at work all year.  One of their many summative projects was a new garden for our outdoor learning space.  The students surveyed the building on their favorite type of flower and with 747 responses, used their geometry skills to design a pie graph garden.  They had the measurements of the diameter, circumference, angles of all the pie pieces, and even translated the area of each piece in to the number of plants they would need.  We can't wait to see what this looks like when we come back in the fall!

CBPA was named a 2013 Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America.  The criteria for this award is based on curriculum, assessments, volunteerism, partnerships, and many other factors.  Thank you to all our CBPA friends, families, and partners for helping us with this wonderful honor!
