The week of April 21st though April 25th is “Volunteer Appreciation Week”. I would like to extend a thank you on behalf of the entire staff to those of you who do so much at Roosevelt Middle School for our students and staff. Parents and volunteers have served in a multitude of ways to fulfill critical roles in our school. This service may be helping in the at student dances, the book fair, chaperoning a field trip, tutoring or assisting in classrooms. No matter how big or small the commitment, many events would not have been possible without your help and support. The staff and students are grateful for your generosity and dedication. If you have not taken the opportunity to volunteer I encourage you to consider this important role and contact the school. On behalf of the entire middle school staff, thank you to all parent and volunteers!

All sixth, seventh and eighth grade students will take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) in reading on April 15 and 16 and the math MCA on-line during the last weeks couple weeks in April through the second week in May. 8th grade students will also take the science MCA on-line in mid-May. These assessments are used to determine how well students are achieving in our school and scores are reported to the State of Minnesota Department of Education. These scores are also used along with MAP scores and teacher recommendation for course placements. Please encourage your child to do their very best and make sure your child has a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast on the days of the tests.

We encourage you to explore our website. We use the website as a regular tool of communication, highlight what is happening at RMS and provide links to useful resources. Teachers post their homework updates through their website and “upload” their grades to a secure on-line access through A-H Connect.

Remember to read the trimester edition of the RMS newsletter now sent on-line and our bi-weekly RMS enews. These are electronic newsletters sent to parents via email. It is a quick and easy way to know more often what is happening at RMS.

We look forward to a successful third trimester at RMS. Please feel free to contact myself or your child’s team Assistant Principal with any questions or needs. Thank you for taking an active role in your child’s education!
