There will be a family information night, sponsored by the Roosevelt Parent Partnership Team, on Monday, February 10th at 6:30 PM in the media center. The topic for this program will be “preparing for high school”. This topic is open to students and parents of grades 6, 7 and 8. The featured guest speaker will be Blaine High School Principal John Phelps and a panel of Blaine students and parents.
Administrators met with current sixth and seventh grade students to review the course offerings and discuss academic planning the week of January 8-15. Students will be bringing home their registration materials. Your input as a parent in the course selection is invaluable. As you sit down with your child, I encourage you to discuss future academic goals as well as their courses for next year.
Students entering the eighth grade next year will select six elective courses. Students entering seventh grade next year will have four semester electives to select. If a student needs to be enrolled in a remediation course based on assessment scores, they may have fewer elective options.
Registration forms should be returned by January 15th. Student course choices are utilized for the staffing process. We base the staffing of positions for the following school year on student registration in the elective areas and needs of students. Your support in this process is greatly appreciated.
Current eighth grade student that will be attending Blaine High School next year will register at BHS. Parents and guardians will received a letter in the mail directly from the high school describing the registration process and timeline. Blaine High School counselors will be at RMS on January 17th to present registration information to students in their classes. A parent and student registration information night is scheduled for the evening of January 21th from 6:30-8:30. You can call BHS with questions for more information at 763-506-6500.
Please feel free to contact myself or your child’s team Assistant Principal with any questions or needs. Thank you for taking an active role in your child’s education!
